Once upon a time, in a place far away at the bottom of the garden underneath the hedge was a house, and in the house lived a family of Tremblies.
There were four little Tremblies: Wide-Eyed Tremblie, the bossy one with no brains at all, Chatterbox Tremblie with a tongue that never stopped talking, Trickie Tremblie, full of mischief and always getting in to trouble, and last, but not least, Tremblie Happy One.
Tremblie Happy One was the youngest of the Tremblies. He never bossed anyone about, never chatted on and on and never got into any trouble. Tremblie Happy One just sat quietly on his stool all day - smiling.
There were two older Tremblies who lived in a field far, far away - but they never saw each other much, except when they came to stay in the house under the hedge every now and then.
The oldest Tremblie was Marvel the Wise, very handsome with neat hair. His companion was Kaptain Tremblie, who was very much like Trickie Tremblie, but older. No one could ever decide who was worse, Kaptain or Trickie, but most agreed that they were at least as bad as each other.
